Insights for Solutions Journalism

The Solutions Insights Lab is evaluating several initiatives for the Solutions Journalism Network (SJN). Funded in part by the Hewlett Foundation, the Global Female Trainer’s Fund and the Gender Equity Story Fund both support women journalists worldwide who bring a solutions lens to reporting on gender equity.

The Africa Initiative, funded in part by the Gates Foundation, is a partnership between SJN, Nigeria Health Watch, and Science Africa to spread solutions journalism on public health.

Our research has surfaced insights on how SJN can strengthen the work of journalists bringing a solutions lens to reporting on gender equity and on the power of decentralized leadership. By looking in-depth at the Africa Initiative, we’re learning how a solutions lens can improve newsroom practices, reporting quality, community impact, and policy conversations.
